In the pre-reserved hotel, theTIME Grand Plaza Hotel in Deira, we could actually only check in at 2 pm. But the receptionist offered us to move into the room at 11 o'clock. So we now only had to bridge two hours. We dropped off our luggage at the concierge and drove to a small park. Here we actually wanted to do our first geocache in Dubai, but we didn't find it.
After we had roughly unpacked our suitcases, we went for a spin in the hotel pool. This was on the roof and the water was accordingly bathtub warm. But after our longer journey, very relaxing.
To stock up on some groceries, we drove to the first big mall – the City-Centre Deira. In the shopping center we found a Carrefour, which we had already learned from ourFrench Riviera Holidays Knew. We lingered a little in the huge air-conditioned hall and then finally found our first cache in Dubai on the parking deck.
Dubai Creek
We continued towards Jumeirah beach. We passed Dubai Creek. The Creek is a natural inlet of the Persian Gulf that divides the city of Dubai into the districts of Bur Dubai and Deira. It is 14 kilometres long and has a width of 115 metres at the mouth to 1400 metres at its end. On the western side of the river we quickly found a parking space.
Burj Al Arab – five star hotel in Dubai
After a few laps on the banks of the creek, we got back in the car and drove the beach road towards Burj Al Arab. This is one of the most luxurious and expensive hotels in the world and a landmark of the city of Dubai. Unfortunately, the access road is blocked off and only hotel guests come to the site. But we still found time for a short stop at the roadside. So we were able to take a few photos after all. A little further north of the luxury hotel is the public um Suqeim beach. Here we went for the first time in the Persian Gulf to swim at least a little with our feet.

Mall of the Emirates
Our last destination for today was the Mall of the Emirates. In the huge mall there are mainly many expensive boutiques. We were actually here because of the famous ski hall "Ski Dubai". With an indoor temperature of -3 degrees, many locals spend the whole day skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and other winter sports. For us, watching through the large windows was enough.

The end of the day was a delicious dinner at Shake Shack. We already knew the burger joint from NYC and were surprised to find it here. Simply an insanely delicious burger.
