We started our last day of vacation in Abu Dhabi really calmly. We slept in and then ate quietly in our Hotel for breakfast. After we checked out around 1o o'clock, we drove about 20 minutes to Yas Island. On this natural island covered with mangroves, a new world has been created for motorsport.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
First we visited the Ferrari World. This imposing hall with a huge Ferrari logo on the roof even houses a roller coaster. However, we didn't go into the exhibition, because we found the ticket prices simply too expensive. So we only watched a few rides of the fast-paced roller coaster ride.
Yas Marina Circuit
After leaving the entrance hall of Ferrari World, we tried to take a look at the adjacent Formula 1 track. So we drove around a bit until we suddenly stood in front of a security post. After a short inquiry, we were allowed to pass it. We were now in the middle of the race track.
As we drove past a grandstand, we saw an open door. We quickly decided to just park and take advantage of the opportunity. Rather out of fun, I pressed a button of the elevator in the grandstand building and was very puzzled that it really came. So quickly in and up to the top floor. Suddenly we were standing in the middle of the VIP area on the grandstand at the start-finish straight. Cool! We took a few photos and then wanted to get out of the way again. However, this time the elevator did not work, so we had to look for a staircase. We also found this in the empty grandstand building, which was cooled down to 17°C.
We left Yas Island via a six-lane highway to the north. Here we were almost alone on the road, hardly anyone drove on this Friday, which by the way is part of the weekend in UAE. All around were again insanely oversized leveled building areas. Who else wants to build here? After a short trip to the beach of Saadiyat Island, we continued towards the Corniche in Abu Dhabi. In order to acclimatize a little, we took a short break in the Marina Mall.
Heritage Village
After our visit to the mall, we looked at the Heritage Village opposite. Here the history of the country and its people was presented in a very interesting way. There are old crafts, such as carpet weaving and historical replicas, to marvel at. From here we also had a great view of Abu Dhabi, including its world-famous hotel Emirates Palace.
