Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok

Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the most exciting hotel markets in the world. There are numerous luxury hotels in the Thai metropolis, some of which can be booked at favourable prices. For our stay, we opted for the 5-star Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok. You can find out what amenities the hotel offers and how we liked the rooms in our hotel review.

Booking, arrival and check-in

As usual, I booked the Hilton Bangkok Sukhumvit directly via the Hilton homepage, as this is the only way I can collect points for free nights and utilise the benefits of my Hilton Diamond status. In addition, the prices on other booking portals were not cheaper.

Since we didn't start until the late afternoon with the Singapore Airlines Regional Business Class When we arrived in Bangkok from Singapore and had to get a rental car, we were only at the hotel in the evening. The check-in was very friendly and without long waiting times. We received a complimentary upgrade from our booked King Deluxe Room to a King Premium Executive Room.

Where is the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok located?

The Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok and its sister hotel DoubleTree Bangkok Sukhumvit offer a prime location in the heart of the vibrant metropolis. Nestled in the lively Sukhumvit district with a variety of activities and attractions, from trendy shopping centres and vibrant street markets to hip restaurants and bars. The Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station is also just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. Those travelling by car, like us, can use the hotel's free underground car park.

How are the rooms (King Premium Executive) at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok?

The furnishings in our King Premium Executive room were a little older, but still in good condition. The design with the dark wood veneer and lots of chrome didn't quite suit our taste. In the entrance area there was a large wardrobe, a shelf for your suitcase and a well-stocked minibar in another cupboard. At the floor-to-ceiling windows at the back of the room were a light brown leather armchair and a large desk with a comfortable desk chair, two sockets and an HDMI connection for the TV. The large, cosy bed stood against the wall with a bedside table on each side. Unfortunately, there was only one socket on each side of the bed.

The spacious bathroom was separated from the hallway by a sliding door. The rain shower and bathtub were located in a separate area of the bathroom separated by a glass door. The panoramic window from the shower to the bedroom took some getting used to, but could be closed with a roller blind if desired. The toilet was also separated from the bathroom by a door with a frosted glass pane. However, we found this area a little cramped.

How's the breakfast at Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok?

Breakfast at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok is served in the Scalini restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. The hotel restaurant impresses with its modern and elegant industrial design with lots of glass and metal, which creates a relaxed atmosphere.

We were greeted warmly every morning and, after checking our room number, were shown to our preferred seat. Depending on the status of the hotel guest, there was a small paper display on the table - but as a Diamond, we couldn't really see any effect. In addition to coffee specialities, a signature drink from Panpan to Butterfly Pea was served daily.

The choice of food was as impressive as it was varied, with an abundance of international and local dishes. From freshly baked croissants and fruit to flavourful egg dishes, eggs Benedict and various Asian delicacies.

How is the Executive Lounge at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok?

Access to the Executive Lounge at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok is free of charge for guests with Diamond status. In addition, guests who have booked an Executive category room have access to the lounge. The lounge is located on the fourth floor and is only accessible via the lift with an activated room card. Like the rooms, the lounge is very dark in colour. Black marble on the walls, large dark brown leather sofas and a dark wooden floor convey the flair of an English parlour. In addition to the actual lounge area, there are three meeting rooms and a small outdoor area, although this does not offer a beautiful view as the lounge is located on the fourth floor.

The opening hours of the lounge were given contradictory information by the hotel. At check-in, we were told that the lounge was already open for breakfast. We eventually found out that the lounge is open from 10am to 8pm. Soft drinks, water and juices are available during opening hours. A fully automatic coffee machine is also available.

In addition to the all-day drinks menu, afternoon tea is served from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Various delicacies such as scones, tarts and savoury sandwiches are served at the buffet. The Hilton Sukhumvit also invites you to an evening reception in the Executive Lounge every day from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm. On the days we were guests, there was always a salad buffet, several small canapés, cheese, a soup and at least two hot dishes. For the hot dishes, you could choose between satay skewers, curries or European stews, for example. In addition to the food, there was also a large selection of drinks. Not only the typical soft drinks, but also local beer and various wines were available. There was also a wide selection of good spirits, which the staff were happy to mix into long drinks or cocktails. A delicious non-alcoholic cocktail was also mixed for our son, even though none was on the menu.

The friendly and courteous staff in the lounge deserve a particularly positive mention. The dishes were cleared quickly, drinks were proactively requested and wine was also poured directly at the table.

What does the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok offer for relaxation?

The Hilton Bangkok Sukhumvit has a wonderful little infinity pool on the roof. With a handful of comfortable loungers, guests can not only enjoy the sun, but also the spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding skyscrapers and the vibrant city below. Next to the pool is a bar and a small fitness centre.

Summary

The Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok is undoubtedly a good choice if you are looking for a luxury hotel in Bangkok. The price-performance ratio is right in every respect, as the rooms and especially the bathrooms are large and luxurious. The offer in the Executive Lounge was very good and the service staff were always very friendly and courteous. The pool on the roof is very nice, from where you have a great view of the Bangkok skyline. Especially as a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I can only recommend a stay at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok!
