Marina Bay Sands Singapore

When ranking the most spectacular buildings in Asia, one definitely ranks in the top 10 - the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Opened in 2010, the resort on Marina Bay in Singapore consists of a casino, a hotel, a conference and exhibition center, a shopping center, an art and science museum, two theater halls and various bars and restaurants.

The three 55-story hotel towers with more than 2,600 rooms have a 191-metre roof garden that is 340 meters long. The highlight of the world's largest outrigger platform is a 146 meter long infinity pool. The resort describes itself as the first culinary temple in Asia. With more than 20 different restaurants, guests can see that food is very important here.

Marina Bay Sands – Lobby

We met a Marina Bay Sands communications officer at the Tower 1 reception for a personal tour. Here we noticed the negative side of a hotel with over 2000 rooms for the first time: mass processing! There is simply no peace in the lobby and we felt more like we were in a train station.

After exploring the lobby with its various artworks and restaurants, we took the VIP elevator to the 54th floor. After our arrival in the lift lobby, we finally left the hustle and bustle of the reception area behind us and enjoyed the peace and the great view of Marina Bay. So this is where the luxury begins!

Marina Bay Sands – Chairman Suite

In addition to the different rooms, the Marina Bay Sands also offers different suites. Starting with the smallest suite, the Orchid Suite with 97 square meters and a separate living/sleeping area, bathroom with extra shower and free-standing bathtub with a view of the harbor and the surrounding area. If you like it a little larger, you can book one of the Sands or Marina Suites or treat yourself to maximum luxury with the gigantic Chairman Suite (629 sqm). The suites in the highest category include service highlights such as 24-hour butler service, separate elevators and a VIP lounge.

Guests in the Chairman Suite have their own small fitness and massage room. We were particularly enthusiastic about the home cinema. There are comfortable armchairs, a great sound system and the karaoke system, which is very popular in Asia. The central point of the suite is the living area with a dining table, a comfortable sofa area and a grand piano. Standing at the floor-to-ceiling windows and looking down, the curved shape of the building makes you feel like you're standing right over the abyss.

In addition to the master bedroom, there are several additional bedrooms for guests or family members. Each room has its own large bathroom with separate his and her toilets. We were briefly shocked when entering the room, the toilet seat opened automatically.

Marina Bay Sands – Sands SkyPark

Undoubtedly the hotel's most spectacular feature is the Sands SkyPark. This connects all three hotel towers and houses several restaurants and bars, a roof garden and the famous infinity pool.

Infinity Pool - a pool on the 57th floor

The infinity pool on the 57th floor is only available to hotel guests. It is 146 meters long and divided into three areas. It's impressive to swim so high above the city rooftops, let the sun shine on your head and simply enjoy the fantastic view. We found, however, that the pool area is quickly overcrowded. You probably only have space to really swim in the early morning or evening.

Observation Deck

However, since the pool and roof garden are not accessible to external guests, a viewing platform was specially built at the top of the SkyPark. Here visitors can enjoy views of Marina Bay, the pit lane of the Formula 1 circuit and Gardens by the Bay. However, access to the Observation Deck costs 20 SGD.

If admission is too expensive, we recommend a free visit to the Ku-De-Ta Bar. You can reach the bar on the 57th floor via the elevator in Tower 3. Once at the top, treat yourself to a delicious cocktail and enjoy the cool beats the bar the great view. However, it should be noted that the drinks here are very expensive. For the saved entrance fee of 20 SGD you get just a 0.33 l beer here.

Marina Bay Sands – Casino

In addition to a large shopping center, the Marina Bay Sands complex also includes a casino with more than 600 tables and 2500 slot machines. The casino has around 25,000 visitors daily and entry is SGD 100 for locals. Foreign visitors, on the other hand, do not pay an entrance fee. Unfortunately we had left our passports at the hotel and so were not able to enter the casino.
