The Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton

Booking, arrival and check-in

Rezeption
reception

We registered at the 24-hour guarded entrance gate and were immediately greeted by a member of staff in front of the main building. She accompanied us to the lobby and took care of the formalities. In the meantime we took a seat on a sofa and enjoyed the welcome drink and a selection of pastries. In the meantime, our luggage was unloaded and our car was parked for free. Then we drove with the receptionist and a golf cart, the sometimes very steep and narrow paths to our suite.

Our family suite (room number 1147) was on the second level of the hotel complex built against the mountain. It could be reached either by a short walk or by an elevator and cable car.

The Family Suite at the Curio Collection by Hilton consists of a 40 square meter room. The bedroom and the living area can be separated by a sliding door.

The king-size bed was in the middle of the room, so there was a great view of the sea from the bed. In the bedroom there were two closets, one with a safe, iron and ironing board and two lower closets. One of them also contained the minibar, which in our room was only stocked with soft drinks. Unfortunately, the compressor was a bit noisy and started up regularly, which was sometimes annoying, especially at night. In addition to the cold drinks, there was a capsule coffee machine with 4 different types of coffee and a kettle for the different types of tea. To improve the service in a five star hotel, it would have been nice to have two complimentary bottles of water in the room each day. Even from the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaima or other luxury hotels of the Hilton Group we knew that.

The toilet and the spacious shower with rain shower were on the left and right of the entrance. The sinks, two hollowed out rocks, were in the bedroom itself. There was storage space around the sinks. However, we missed a way to turn off hand soap. Another minor gripe was that while there were fancy wooden hooks for the towels, the towels themselves didn't have anything to hang up.

In the living area there were two sofas, both of which can be converted into a bed. Also, just like in the bedroom, there was a TV on the wall. When we arrived, the hotel had prepared a great surprise with Greek specialties on the coffee table in the middle of the room.

Since our suite was on the top floor of a two-storey bungalow, we had a large balcony. The lower suite then had a terrace accordingly. The bungalows were arranged in such a way that they offered the greatest possible privacy. Here it would be an advantage if the hotel could offer a possibility for the bathing suits to be dried. There are certainly solutions here that correspond to the hotel standard and are always better than when the guests put their wet things over the chairs or glazed balcony railings.

There were only a few free sockets in the room, but enough USB type A sockets. Especially the USB sockets by the bed were very good. The free WiFi was very fast during our stay with up to 50 MBit upload and download.

Wie ist das Frühstück im The Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete?

Breakfast is served in buffet form in the main GEA restaurant. The restaurant offers tables inside and on the partly covered terrace. Although breakfast was included as a status guest, as well as with every room rate during our stay, we never had to wait to be shown to our table.

The range of dishes was very extensive, so I do not want to list everything here. The many types of bread (also whole grain products), the Greek specialties, the “Make-your-Own Eggs Benedict” station, the large selection of muesli and the extensive range of desserts should be emphasized. Of course there was also a live cooking station where omelettes, pancakes and waffles were prepared.

At breakfast there was a large selection of coffee specialties that were served at the table. In addition, there was sparkling wine every morning, freshly squeezed orange juice and other vegetable and fruit juices.

In addition to the main GEA restaurant, there are six other restaurants and bars on the hotel premises. The highlight is the CRETAMOS restaurant, which elevates the simple character of the island's dishes to haute cuisine and combines them with the best Cretan wines.

Was bietet das The Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete zur Erholung?
