For our stay in Singapore, we had reserved a room at the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy hotel for three nights. After arriving at the airport, we went to the Ground Transportation counter on the arrivals level. Here we received the information when and where the free hotel shuttle departs. Unfortunately, we missed the bus by 10 minutes and had to wait another 50 minutes.
Booking, arrival and check-in
In pouring rain we arrived at the hotel after a 20-minute drive. Our suitcases were unloaded from the bus and taken to the lobby. In the meantime, we were able to take care of the check-in. This went without waiting times and without any problems. Thanks to our Platinum status, we got a free upgrade to the Executive Floor, the 17th and thus top floor, including access to the Executive Lounge. Here we were provided with breakfast as well as drinks and snacks in the evening.
What are the Executive Rooms like in Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy?
Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy has 576 hotel rooms, which differ almost only in view and floor. Our Executive Room was very spacious and modern with 32 square meters. The furniture was a bit worn, but it didn't look old or shabby. The bathroom was very clean and there were plenty of quality toiletries available. All in all, the room was a bit older, but sparkling clean. The wifi was free and sufficiently fast.
We were especially happy about the welcome greeting. In addition to a personal letter, the hotel manager had a bottle of water, apples and small sweets prepared for us.
What is the Executive Lounge like at Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy?
The Executive Lounge is open to all guests who have booked a room on the Executive Floor or a suite.
While having breakfast in the lounge, we enjoyed the magnificent view of the East Coast Park. The offer at the buffet was sufficient. There was fresh fruit, salad, various baked goods, toast, croissants, cornflakes and changing hot dishes such as Asian noodles, scrambled eggs or beans. The drinks, various juices and coffee specialties, were served by the service staff.
Alcoholic beverages and snacks will be served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Red and white wines by the glass, beer, soft drinks and freshly squeezed juices are offered. The best snacks are Doritos!
In addition to breakfast and evening snacks, the Executive Lounge offers complimentary soft drinks, coffee and tea throughout the day. A conference room and a fully equipped computer corner are also available.
What does Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy offer for relaxation?
The hotel's facilities include a large outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre, and several restaurants and bars. The swimming pool is pleasantly large and open until 10 pm. Towels and loungers are sufficiently available.
The hotel's services include a half-hour shuttle service to the airport or downtown (Marina Bay and Orchard Road on the hour every weekend morning). We used both offers without any problems. If you want to get around more individually, you can also take a taxi or the bus, which leaves directly in front of the hotel.
