Hilton Munich Park

Lobby des Hilton Munich Park

The four-star hotel Hilton Munich Park is just a few minutes' walk from the English Garden. We visited the hotel between Christmas and New Year's Eve during the Corona pandemic. You can find out to what extent the Corona rules have affected our stay in the following hotel review.

Booking and check-in

In the summer we were looking for a destination for our New Year's Eve vacation. After not booking a flight due to possible corona restrictions, we decided to travel by car to Venice. As a stopover for this long drive, we chose Munich and the Hilton Munich Park. We booked a standard room and were upgraded to an executive room with an English garden view before we arrived.

Check-in was quick and uncomplicated in the beautifully designed lobby. As an additional status benefit, there was a bottle of water per person. The welcome gift that we usually get in the room at other Hilton hotels, which usually includes a bottle of prosecco and assorted sweets, was very small here. There was only one jar of chocolate nuts.

How are the rooms (King Executive Park View) at the Hilton Munich Park?

Our King Executive room was on the 14th floor of the Hilton Munich Park. As the name of the room suggests, it was on the side of the hotel facing the English Garden. From the room's own balcony you have a wonderful view of the park.

Our room was a good size. The furnishings consisted of a king-size bed, a couch that wasn't really usable due to the extra bed, and a long desk-closet combination. However, everything was getting a little old. At night the quite noisy air conditioning disturbed something.

Especially the design of the bathroom shows the age of the room or hotel. However, everything was clean and in perfect condition. The only criticism was that there was very little storage space.

How is breakfast at the Hilton Munich Park?

Breakfast is served to guests of the Hilton Munich Park hotel in the Tivoli restaurant on the ground floor.

After we had found a nice table by the large window front with a view of the Eisbach flowing past, we were greeted directly by the friendly service staff. Our drink requests were asked and served directly at the table.

The buffet offered a good selection. At the two buffet islands there was cold cuts, desserts, different types of bread, fruit and yoghurt. Those who wanted a real Bavarian breakfast also found white sausages, sweet mustard and pretzels. In addition, there was an open kitchen in which fresh egg dishes were prepared.

How is the Executive Lounge (replacement lounge) at the Hilton Munich Park?

The Executive Lounge at the Hilton Munich Park is usually located on the 12th floor of the hotel. Access is gained as a Hilton Honors Diamond member, by booking an Executive Floor room or by receiving an upgrade. Due to the Corona rules during our stay, the lounge was moved to a separate area of the Tivoli restaurant on the ground floor. In the so-called Tivoli Pavilion there were several tables with chairs or sofas and a makeshift bar. During the day, the lounge opens, but only at 12 p.m., we were able to relax with a coffee and always found a free table, but during happy hour it was it very crowded and there was not enough space.

The Executive Lounge offered soft drinks and specialty coffees throughout the day. During happy hour from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a variety of beers, wine, sparkling wine and non-alcoholic drinks were offered at the bar. The service staff was very friendly and quick when serving the drinks.

Instead of the usual buffet, the food was served straight from the kitchen to the table. There was no choice and only one meal per person in the evening. On our first night we got two small flammkuchen and a piece of onion tart. The other night, fried chicken sticks were served with a peanut dip. Both dishes tasted okay and were perfectly adequate as a snack. However, they are not a substitute for dinner.

What does the Hilton Munich Park offer for recreation?

The hotel also offers its guests some spaces to relax. The pool, sauna and fitness area are located in the basement of the hotel. Although the relaxation area is really small for the size of the hotel, it's nice that there is one. Especially when traveling with children, such a pool is really worth its weight in gold, no matter how small it is.

Summary

Our stay at the Hilton Munich Park was pleasant. It was a pity that the Executive Lounge was only offered to a reduced extent in the afternoon and during happy hour due to the corona restrictions. As a status guest, you have to be happy about that, because many hotels completely eliminate this advantage.
