Hilton Vienna Park

Hilton Vienna Park

For our weekend trip to Vienna we were looking for a hotel in a central location. The selection was large, as the Hilton Group alone has four hotels in its portfolio. Since we had already stayed at the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront a few years ago, this time we decided on the Hilton Vienna Park. You can find out in this hotel review whether that was a good choice and what our biggest room upgrade to date turned out to be.

Arrival and check-in

Due to our late arrival at Vienna Airport, we took a taxi (cost 55 EUR) to Hilton Vienna Park. It is much cheaper and almost as quick to get there with the S-Bahn and the CAT (City Airport Train), which stop directly opposite the hotel at the “Wien Mitte” station. The location of the Hilton Vienna Park is also extremely convenient in terms of Vienna's sights. St. Stephen's Cathedral is just a few minutes' walk away and the Hofburg or the Museumsquartier are not far either.

Despite our late arrival at 10 p.m. there was still a lot going on at reception. Thanks to our Gold status, we didn't have to wait and were welcomed directly at the reception for Honors guests. We had already checked in via the Hilton app and received a room in the executive area. But the friendly employee surprised us on site with another upgrade: our booked King Deluxe room became a Penthouse Suite - our best room upgrade to date! Beaming with joy, we quickly signed the prepared forms and took the elevator to the 15th floor.

What are the rooms (Penthouse Suite) like at the Hilton Vienna Park?

The Hilton Vienna Park has nine different suites ranging in size from 38 to 235 m², all located on the top floor. Our Penthouse Suite was in the middle with 65 m². Access to the Executive Lounge with free snacks and drinks was also included.

From the entrance we went straight to the guest toilet, to the right to the bedroom and to the left to the large living room. Along the living room wall was a comfortable sofa about five meters long with light brown fabric and dark brown cushions. In the middle of the room was a round conference table with three chairs. When we arrived there was an extensive welcome greeting, consisting of red wine “Vienna Trilogy”, water, a fruit bowl and the local Manner waffles. The stocked minibar was on the sideboard next to it. An additional bottle of mineral water and a coffee/kettle station were also available there. Of course, a flat screen TV and a desk were also a must.

A narrow balcony extends the entire length of the Penthouse Suite. The balcony was definitely enough to get some fresh air and enjoy the breathtaking view of the city park, St. Stephen's Cathedral and the rest of Vienna.

On the way to the sleeping area there was a large wardrobe on the right. Opposite was the spacious bathroom with bathtub, floor-level shower and toilet. We particularly liked the generous storage space at the sink and the large mirror. In the bedroom, in addition to the baby bed we ordered, there was a double bed, a lounger and a flat screen TV. Unfortunately there were no sockets in the bedside tables. Access to the balcony was also possible from the bedroom.

How is breakfast at Hilton Vienna Park?

Breakfast is served daily until 11 a.m. in the hotel restaurant S’Parks. During our weekend stay, it was already very busy around 8 a.m., so there were only a few free tables left. So if you want to have breakfast with a larger group, it certainly makes sense to reserve a table the evening before. Since there was a specially reserved area for Hilton Honors guests, the five of us had no problems finding a table. When we arrived at the table, we were immediately greeted by the service staff and provided with coffee or orange juice. In general, the waiters were very friendly and quick to clear away used dishes or refill drinks. This is how I would like the service in a four-star hotel!

The breakfast buffet at the Hilton Vienna Park was very diverse. In addition to the typical warm dishes such as scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, dim sum and fried noodles were also offered. There was also a large selection of bread, pastries and cakes. The buffet was rounded off by a waffle machine, various yoghurts, muesli and fruit or fruit salad. You could also have egg dishes, pancakes or waffles prepared in an open kitchenette. Of course, I didn't miss this opportunity and ordered eggs Benedict, one of my favorite dishes.

At the exit of the S’Parks restaurant there was also a small buffet with snacks, fruit and water. Here we stocked up on a few little things for the day. Excellent service and a great idea!

How is the Executive Lounge at Hilton Vienna Park?

The Executive Lounge of the Hilton Vienna Park was on the 12th floor. It was open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Access control is automatic. All you need for access is the activated room card.

The lounge was divided into three seating areas. There were several tables and chairs in each room and a small, cozy seating area in one room. The space available was usually sufficient during our visits. However, during happy hour it became very crowded for a short time, so not every guest could find a seat. However, the service staff always made an effort and even made the unoccupied desk at the lounge reception available for eating. An Apple iMac and a PC were also available for short internet research or other work.

Dinner at S’Parks

We had reserved a table in the hotel restaurant S’Parks for Saturday evening. Our little son was lovingly looked after by Grandma and Grandpa, so that we as parents were able to enjoy dinner in peace for the first time. The menu offered a clear selection of innovative creations from classic and modern Austrian cuisine with local ingredients. I chose a Viennese schnitzel of milk veal with green salad and parsley potatoes. Christin had an asparagus risotto with wild garlic oil. A first-class choice for both of us! Although we were full after the main course, we were fortunately persuaded to have dessert. The Marchfeld strawberries with meringue, woodruff jelly and strawberry cheesecake ice cream were simply delicious. A fantastic ending!

Summary

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Vienna Park. The central location at the city park and the proximity to the subway station make the hotel a first-class starting point for a city trip. By upgrading to the Penthouse Suite, we had a particularly beautiful view and enough space. If we're traveling with our son, the extra living space in the hotel room is definitely worth the extra cost. Our only minor criticism was that there were no power sockets next to the bed. The lounge and breakfast in the hotel restaurant S’Parks were first class. We would come back to the Hilton Vienna Park at any time.
