Due to the opening of Berlin Airport during the Corona pandemic and the associated travel restrictions, Lufthansa had initially only opened a smaller lounge for all passengers with different frequent flyer statuses. With the increasing volume of travel at the beginning of 2023, Lufthansa decided to expand the lounge offering to include a Senator Lounge on the originally planned area. Find out what frequent flyers can expect in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin in our review.

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin is located in Terminal 1. After the security check and the duty free shop, the way to the lounge in the direction of B-Gates is well signposted. The Lufthansa lounges are located opposite Gate B20 on the 1st floor and cannot be overlooked by the Lufthansa logo on the wood paneling. To get to the corresponding floor, there is either an elevator or a staircase.

How is the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin equipped?

After the joint reception of the Lufthansa lounges, the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin is located on the right-hand side. Right at the entrance in the passageway to the actual lounge you will find a long shelf with a range of daily newspapers and various magazines. This is followed by the spacious but tube-like seating area of the lounge. On the right we go towards the buffet and here there are mainly normal dining tables with two chairs each, but also larger conference tables. To the left is the relaxation area with various seating groups of leather armchairs, sofas or comfortable swivel chairs. The seating groups are loosened up by various bookshelves and even an artificial fireplace. There are also numerous sockets and wireless charging options.

The large window front, which is only partially oriented towards the apron, allows plenty of daylight to enter the lounge. Overall, the equipment and design of the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin make a very positive impression and convey a pleasant atmosphere.

What is there to eat and drink in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin?

For far too long after the pandemic, the range of food and drinks on offer in Lufthansa lounges was very minimalistic. In the meantime, the dry spell has fortunately been overcome and the quality, but also the quantity of food and drinks has increased noticeably again. During our stay on the morning of Whit Monday, the breakfast offer was still served. This consisted of hot dishes such as scrambled eggs with bacon, boiled eggs and confit cherry tomatoes. At a second buffet, a farmer's breakfast was offered as a Berlin "specialty". There was also a cold buffet with natural yoghurt, freshly cut fruit, strawberry-rhubarb compote, various cheeses, antipasti, cold cuts, various sweet spreads and cakes. Of course, there were also pastries and rolls.

The range of drinks is comparable to Lufthansa's other Senator Lounges. There is a large selection of spirits, several types of beer, various red and white wines, three different types of sparkling wine or sparkling wine and, of course, non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks. In addition, the lounge has a second beverage station with fully automatic coffee machine and selected cold drinks.

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge Berlin leaves a very positive impression. The design is very stylish and also the size in combination with the abundance of natural light makes the stay in the lounge pleasant. The buffet is also more than plentiful and the wifi works quickly, so in my opinion it really lacks nothing.
