The Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg is one of two Lufthansa lounges at the airport of the Hanseatic city. Due to a trip to New York (via Copenhagen with SAS) I flew from Hamburg for the first time and accordingly also visited the lounge. In this lounge review, I will share my experiences and impressions of the facilities, the range of food and drinks and reveal what absolute highlight the lounge has to offer.
Where is the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg located?
The Lufthansa Senator Lounge is located in Terminal 2 of Hamburg Airport. After the security check, the way to the A gates was clearly signposted. Almost at the end of the terminal, near gate A19, there is a staircase that leads to the second floor lounge. There is also an elevator hidden in a side corridor in front of it.
Both the Lufthansa Senator Lounge and the Lufthansa Business Lounge can be reached via the same entrance and are open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Lufthansa Senator Lounge is on the right after admission control.
Who has access to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg?
How is the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg equipped?
The Senator Lounge consists of a single long room divided into different areas for dining, relaxing and working. The work area is to the right of the entrance. There are several optically separated desks with sockets for undisturbed work on the laptop. A printer and copier are also available in the lounge. The free Wi-Fi had good reception throughout the lounge and was fast enough.
Along the window front are comfortable leather armchairs or leather sofas in the various shades of brown typical of Lufthansa. Between the armchairs there are always storage areas with sufficient sockets and USB ports. Room dividers and small shelves serve as separation and soundproofing between the individual seating areas.
Before entering the buffet area on the left, there are two bar tables and a separate smoking area at the back of the lounge. There is plenty of seating around the buffet. But the absolute highlight of the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg is the outdoor terrace with a view of the apron. Tables and chairs are also available here. Unfortunately, the terrace is closed in winter and we can only look through the windows.
What is there to eat and drink in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg?
As already mentioned at the beginning of the lounge review, we were in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg early on Saturday morning. Accordingly, different breakfast dishes were offered at the buffet. The offer ranged from the typical warm dishes, such as scrambled eggs, beans and meatballs, to cold cuts and baked goods. Typical for Hamburg, of course, a Franzbrötchen, a bun made from Danish pastry and filled with cinnamon and sugar, could not be missing. A second, smaller buffet offered natural yoghurt, blueberry yoghurt and fruit salad. Add a few healthy smoothies, such as vegan-banana-turmeric or cucumber-ginger-lemon. For those with a sweet tooth, of course, the sweets buffet could not be missing.
In addition to the usual soft drinks and juices, the range of drinks also included beer, wine, sparkling wine and Prosecco. Various high-proof alcohols such as whisky, vodka or Jägermeister were also offered here. There were two fully automatic coffee machines for hot drinks.

Summary
Essentially, the Lufthansa Senator Lounge Hamburg offers exactly what you would expect from a good Lufthansa lounge. I found the range of food to be above average and the range of drinks to be solid. What makes the lounge really special is the terrace overlooking the apron. Just a pity that I was there in winter and it was closed.
