Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 Changi

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 Changi

After arriving with Singapore Airlines from Kuala Lumpur, we made our way from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3. We could have gone to the Business Lounge in Terminal 2, but I had read that the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 would only reopen in November 2021 after extensive renovation and expansion work. You can find out whether it was worth the trip in the lounge review.

Where is the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 located?

The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge in Terminal 3 is located near Gates A1 to A8. If Singapore is the departure airport and not a transfer airport like ours, you have to keep to the left after exit control.

The SilverKris Lounge is located one floor above the departure level. The entrance or escalator to the upper floor can be recognised by a 12-metre-wide art installation on the wall with Singapore Airlines' characteristic batik motif. Once at the top, you will find yourself in the oval entrance area to the Business and First Class Lounge. The large curved LED wall, which shows various animations of the batik motif, is eye-catching.

Who has access to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3?

The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Terminal 3 is open all day. The access rules are somewhat stricter than those of other airlines. Only passengers flying from Singapore with a First or Business Class ticket from Singapore Airlines or other Star Alliance partners have access to the lounge. In addition, Singapore Airlines only grants access to the most loyal status customers of its own frequent flyer programme. Other Star Alliance Gold status customers without a Business Class ticket only have access to the significantly inferior Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

How is the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 equipped?

The newly renovated Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 is located on the site of the former First Class Lounge and the Private Room. While the old Business Lounge was very dark and dignified, the newly designed lounge benefits from its current location and the associated daylight.

After the entrance, the lounge is divided into two main areas. On the left is the large restaurant and buffet area and on the right is a lounge area with a bar, which is open to the terminal like a kind of gallery. At the bar there are several seating areas, two televisions showing news and sport and, at certain times, a bartender. In the morning, the bar is a barista station and cocktails are served in the evening. During our stay at lunchtime, the bar was unfortunately not staffed. However, there are plenty of opportunities to stock up on non-alcoholic and various alcoholic drinks - but more on that in the next chapter.

After the bar, the lounge merges into an open-plan area with various sofa groups, seaside sofas and high tables with stools. The designers have created this area with modern furniture in deep blue, which contrasts with light brown and grey leather sofas and white marble tabletops. Several so-called Productivity Pods are lined up along the wall. These seating areas are upholstered in blue leather, equipped with a reading lamp and acoustically and visually shielded from the rest of the lounge by a surrounding wall design. Each pod is equipped with a wireless charging pad, a universal socket and two USB-A ports.

The largest part of the lounge is taken up by the large restaurant and buffet area to the left of the entrance area. After the entrance, there is an area with a customer service desk, a meeting room with a whiteboard and TV screen and a small pop-up shop for the KrisFlyer frequent flyer programme. In front of the actual restaurant area is a small seating area with four rows of individual blue chairs separated by tables with wireless charging pads and power sockets. This is followed by the buffet area and the open kitchens with live cooking stations. Many different tables and seating areas are available for dining. Overall, the warm lighting makes the room look very inviting and like a chic dining room.

The rest of the business lounge is furnished with various armchairs arranged in rows or groups, high tables, throne chairs with high backrests, a soundproof play area for children, a telephone booth, productivity pods and a quiet area with lounge chairs.

There are two toilets in the lounge, a smaller one near the bar and a larger one near the restaurant area. There are also 15 shower rooms, each with its own toilet. The showers and washrooms are clad in a mixture of white and grey marble. The washrooms also contain a number of utensils such as wet razors and toothbrushes.

What is there to eat and drink in the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3?

The catering options are very extensive for a business lounge. The various buffets offer both Asian and Western dishes in heated containers. During our stay, we were able to choose between dim sum, lasagne and chicken nuggets with chips. If you can't find what you're looking for despite the large selection, you can usually get two more dishes prepared at the live cooking stations. I take the opportunity to have a fresh bowl of Laksa Noodles prepared for me.

In addition to the hot dishes, there are also chiller cabinets with pre-packed sandwiches, fresh ingredients for salads, fruit offerings, various baked goods and desserts. A highlight for our son was the selection of maki sushi with cucumber and prawns.

The highlight of the drinks on offer in the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 Changi is certainly the bar. Here, fresh coffee specialities are prepared by a barista from 06:00 to 10:00 and cocktails are served in the evening from 17:30 to 01:00. In addition to the offer at the bar, there are several drinks buffets in the lounge. These offer soft drinks, water, juices, coffee and TWG tea specialities as well as various spirits. In addition to a large selection of wines from a digital wine fridge, two bottles of Piper Heidsieck Essentiel champagne were also available for the physical well-being. For technology fans like us, the fully automatic tapping system for Japanese Asahi beer was another highlight of the lounge.

Summary

We almost gave the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Terminal 3 the full score of 5 stars. The exclusive furnishings and the extensive range of food and drinks are unrivalled in a business lounge. There is a small point deduction for the service. It would have been nice if the bar had also been open during the day.
