The Lounge Leipzig/Halle

The Lounge Leipzig/Halle

At the end of 2023, the time had finally come: The Lounge Leipzig/Halle was opened at my home airport Leipzig/Halle. During the coronavirus pandemic, the Lufthansa lounges in Leipzig and at many other smaller airports in Germany were completely shut down. And even when travel activity picked up again in 2022, the lounges remained closed. So it was good news to discover this new lounge before my flight from Leipzig to Frankfurt and see what it has to offer.

Where is The Lounge Leipzig/Halle located?

The Lounge Leipzig/Halle is located on the upper floor of the departure building, opposite the waiting area for the few departure gates at the airport. As the distances in Leipzig are very short, you can't really miss The Lounge. After the security check, you go through the duty-free shop and then take the escalator to the top. Once at the top, you will find the Airport Lounge on the right-hand side. The Lounge is open daily from 05:00 to 21:00.

Who has access to The Lounge Leipzig/Halle?

The Lounge Leipzig/Halle is a classic contract lounge of the provider Global Lounge Network. Access is available to members of Priority Pass, Lounge Key, Lounge Pass, OnPass and Global Lounge Network. In addition, admission can be purchased on site for EUR 30.00 per person, regardless of membership and airline. Whether it's worth it, you can easily decide for yourself after my lounge review. I used The Lounge via the Priority Pass, which comes with the American Express Platinum is free of charge.

What are the amenities at The Lounge Leipzig/Halle?

The lounge is located in the former Lufthansa Business Lounge (here you can find our lounge review). The part of the former Senator Lounge is dark and serves as storage and retreat for the lounge staff. However, the area is without privacy and without any recognizable demarcation, so that everything is visible from the entrance, creating a very messy and makeshift impression.

The furniture in the lounge is the same as in the Lufthansa days. There are various leather armchairs and sofas in light to dark brown. Only the recliners have disappeared. The mural is also still there. There are still three tables with blue chairs in the buffet area, which were also there in the Lufthansa days. There is also a work corner with four desks with privacy screens. Unfortunately, the lounge does not have its own toilets. The toilets are located in the public area near the lounge entrance.

What is there to eat and drink at The Lounge Leipzig/Halle?

As the buffet furniture was completely taken over from the Lufthansa inventory, the food on offer is also similar to before. There were three hot dishes, including a kind of Kaiserschmarren, but also fruit and yoghurt as well as various cold cuts and rolls. As I visited The Lounge Leipzig/Halle on a Sunday afternoon, there were also two different cakes and snacks on the small buffet.

The range of drinks was manageable, but sufficient. The non-alcoholic drinks included Sprite, cola, tonic, bitter lemon, various types of coffee from the fully automatic machine, different types of tea and two juices. There were also various beers, wine and some spirits such as vodka, rum, Lillet, Aperol and whisky.

Summary

Overall, you no longer feel as welcome in the lounge as you used to. The friendly Lufthansa staff are missing and the service has deteriorated considerably. The ambience is more like a waiting hall and the open storage area in the former Senator Lounge makes a very untidy and provisional impression. The level of food and drink on offer has remained almost the same. All in all, I am glad that there is a lounge at my home airport again, but there is definitely still room for improvement.

I've been there 6 times. Plane often from Leipzig.

Personally, I think it's very nice there. The food is always super delicious 🤤. Breakfast as well as lunch. Berlin can't keep up with that, they only have a coffee there.

Leipzig great staff always very friendly. Very clean everything there. And you have everything you need before departure. To relax again. And have a good time.

I can only recommend it personally. 👍

Can't understand the bad reviews. From me there are in all areas. Full stars 🌟

We use the lounge regularly and are glad that there is a lounge again.
Now the coffee machine has been defective for weeks, but at least there is a thermos flask with filter coffee. But it tastes quite creepy. We are impatiently waiting for the machine to be repaired again. Let's see if it's done by next time m

      Hello Oefi,

Thank you very much for your comment! 😊 I can well understand your anger with the defective coffee machine. Please don't get me wrong – I'm also happy that there is a lounge again in Leipzig. Nevertheless, I sometimes think back to the time when it was a Lufthansa Senator Lounge here.

Let's hope that the machine will be repaired soon and that the next visit will be completely pleasant again. Is there perhaps a lounge that you can particularly recommend?

Best regards and see you soon in the blog,
