We flew from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur. For the flight, we had opted for the AirAsia Economy Class Airbus A320. We took a taxi from Hanoi to Noi Bai International Airport at 6:30 a.m. from the smog. After about 40 minutes of driving, we arrived at the departure hall of Terminal 1. Noi Bai International Airport is getting a bit old and looks like it did in GDR times.
At the check-in counter we picked up our paper tickets, handwritten, for flight AK 871 to Kuala Lumpur. Fortunately, no one was interested in our hand luggage here. A border official, brand Stasi officer (unfriendly and scowling) then invalidated our visa.
Our aircraft, an Airbus A320-200 (registration: 9M-AFP, maiden flight: 2006), arrived in Hanoi 20 minutes late. So we were about 30 minutes behind schedule when we took off. Already during the climb, the distribution of the pre-ordered meals began. Since there was no breakfast for us today, we were also insanely hungry. So we enjoyed the smoked chicken focaccia, small biscuits with fruit filling and a cup of water. Not bad for about 2.50EUR.
We were satisfied with the service and equipment of the aircraft. The seat pitch is quite acceptable for a so-called low-cost airline.
