SWISS Airbus A320-200 Economy Class, Nice to Berlin

SWISS A320 am Gate in Nizza

Today was our last day here on the Côte d'Azur. However, before we returned with SWISS to the rainy and stormy weather in Germany, we looked around a bit in the Nice area.

Fort Mont Alban

After we had already explored the city center of Nice sufficiently, we chose a mountain east of the city today. This is where Fort Mont Alban is located. From here we had a fantastic view of Nice and its port. To the east we looked towards Villefranche-sur-Mer. When we left, our landlord gave us the tip that there is also a house belonging to Elton John up here. Not far from the fort we found a piece of land with high walls and hedges. But we didn't look at the doorbell.

After a picnic on one of the many benches, we watched the ferries to Corsica and sardines docking in the port. A very tight manoeuvre! After exploring the mountain, we headed towards the airport in the afternoon. Our flight to Berlin via Zurich was supposed to take off at 6:55 p.m.

Salon Azur (Nice)

After returning our Opel Astra to Avis, we took the bus back to Terminal 1. Checking in at the empty business counter worked without any problems. After the security check we went to the lounge. Since Lufthansa and Swiss do not operate their own lounges in Nice, we went to the Salon Azur. This is an airport/service provider operated lounge. The offer of food and drinks is worse than what we had in Berlin. There are different drinks, both non-alcoholic and alcohol-containing. The food, however, is only pre-packaged chips, biscuits and a few sandwiches. So mediocre! But it's always better than in the normal waiting area. Complaining at a high level. :)

Flight via Zurich to Nice

We left gate A33 on time and headed east. The plane was almost fully booked in Economy. Shortly after take-off we turned south in a “battle turn”. At the height of Cannes we came back on land and crossed the Alps quite quickly. Some of these were still covered with snow. We ate the buttered pretzels again, which we got last Saturday on the outward flight. To top it off, there was again a delicious chocolate.

Due to the early arrival in Zurich at 7:50 p.m., we made it to the Senator Lounge before boarding to Berlin (8:20 p.m.). The lounge was a lot less busy tonight than last week. So we could enjoy our dinner in peace.

Are you still looking for a flight to Nice?

Nice International Airport can be reached from many German cities all year round. You can find cheap flights through online travel agencies such as Flugladen.de, Bravofly,ebookers.de,Expedia,lastminute.deorSkyscanner.

On our flight to Berlin we were assigned seats by the emergency exit. In the A321 this means that there is no other seat in front of my seat (11A). So a lot of legroom and therefore the best seat in the plane. To our surprise, the plane was relatively empty and therefore the flight was very quiet, with hardly any chatter from the other passengers. After a baguette topped with sausage and a flight time of 1:20 hours, we landed in Berlin Tegel. For dinner we had a beautiful sunset over Germany.
